Lebanese Oriental Jazz
“Legacy isn’t a playlist, it’s a stage, it’s breath, it’s interpretation.” – Salma Mousfi
Salma was 18 and singing Madonna covers in Beirut when Ziad Rahbani first heard her in 1986. He invited her into his studio, beginning a partnership that led to Monodose, their 2001 album of bossa-tinged oriental jazz.
The pair last shared a stage at Jazz Cafe in 2019, for Ziad’s first London show in over 25 years, and as part of his final European tour. Following his death in 2025, Salma returns with a band led by musical director Ryan Naccour to perform the songs they made together, alongside Ziad’s fusions of Arabic melody with jazz and funk.
