Spanish poetry is an emanation of vitality. Its character was shaped by the centuries-old interweaving of Christian, Arab and Jewish traditions. The recurring themes of love, death, transience and loneliness resonate with particular intensity. It is a poetry of striking contrasts, in which the affirmation of life is constantly adjacent to the awareness of its fragility.
During the next meeting of the series “Poetic Map of Europe” we will embark on a journey through Spain — a country whose landscape, history and rich musical tradition have shaped the unique language of poetry for centuries.
