Sam Gendel and Sam Wilkes are known for their approach to music in which genres flow together and new expressions emerge. On the experimental jazz scene in Los Angeles, they have made their mark as central figures side by side with names such as Kamasi Washington, Thundercat and Flying Lotus.
Moving effortlessly between saxophone and electronic surfaces via his 'wind controller', Gendel has collaborated with artists such as Ry Cooder, Laurie Anderson and Moses Sumney. Wilkes brings a deep understanding of funk and R&B into his playing and additionally works as a producer, arranger and composer.
Together they create a unique musical space characterized by presence, play and adventure. Their joint releases unite jazz, ambient, soul and rhythmic experiments in a sonic universe where timbre, harmonies and grooves are constantly challenged and developed.
The strength of their musical interaction can be experienced live when they enter DR Koncerthuset's Studio 2.
