Samida (TR/GO)

Featuring beautiful vocal harmonies and traditional Georgian woodwinds and stringed instruments, Samida takes its audience on a musical journey through the Caucasus, Anatolia and the Balkans. Don't miss out on a unique evening when the three sisters of Samida give a concert at ALICE. The concert is presented in collaboration with Danimarka Events.

Samida means “three sisters” in Georgian, and the trio was formed in 2016 by Yudum, Damla and Tamara Şahin. Drawing on the rich multi-vocal tradition of Georgian music, the three musicians have created their own charismatic sound, where traditional melodies meet new interpretations and original compositions. Samida's music moves freely across the Caucasus, Anatolia, the Balkans and other musical cultures. At its centre stand the goosebump-inducing vocal harmonies of the three sisters, which unfold alongside an exquisite selection of traditional and classical instruments.

Yudum Şahin plays the luth-like panduri, cello and sings, while Damla Şahin brings the traditional Georgian woodwind instruments salamuri and balaban into play along with flute and vocals. Tamara Şahin completes the trio's timbre with violin and vocals. A vibrant and present concert experience awaits, where old song traditions are given new life through three powerful musical voices. Don't miss a one-of-a-kind evening when Samida takes in ALICE.
