Satellite Postcards

We look at them when we want to find our way. This is what they are for — we can find out where something is, read directions or distances. What if we look at them without a communicative purpose? Can we read more from the maps? What can we take from satellite images?

During the workshop we will look at the map visually, not meaningfully. Technology will help us - we will dive into satellite images and look for images there. We will trace remote areas of rainforests, huge rivers of Siberia, sandy coasts, but also our native forests and lakes. We will see what an excellent abstractionist nature is and talk about what we as humans add to these images. The works of art will appear before us by themselves. We will find hundreds of them and our task will be to find that favorite. In the technique of collage, we will make abstract postcards that will tell the stories of places in a completely different way, in a surprising way. We will show wild and transformed areas. We will have the opportunity to reflect on the state of our environment and talk about our feelings towards it. We will look at the world literally and figuratively from a new perspective.

The workshop is designed for children aged 5-10 years with caregivers. Adults accompany the children throughout the workshop and work together with them.
