A coming-of-age story that shakes class barriers in our society and raises urgent questions about privileges.
At 14 years old, the main character already has her third job. While other young people enjoy the hot summer in the swimming pool, she stands behind the even hotter fryer and serves the bathers. After work, she is too tired to jump into the pool herself, and the derogatory comments from others rob her of all strength. That is when the snake of shame appears for the first time, which constantly whispers to her that it is not good enough. No one even trusts her to go to high school. Nevertheless, she feels this irrepressible urge for a life path that no one in her family has been able to take before. She wants more self-determination and ends up studying art in a roundabout way. — Is she finally where she wants to go? Will she ever get rid of the snake of shame?
Director Babett Grube brings Eva Müller's autofictional graphic novel “Scheiblettenkind” by Eva Müller to the stage for the first time and tells of emancipation and social inequality.
