Rub on a Pop-Meatbone with German Shepherds in VEGA

The acclaimed duo Schæfer has in a short time marked themselves as one of the most courageous and exciting new names on the Danish music scene.

German Shepherds are up to date with their critically acclaimed debut EP Hundliv — a generational portrait with critical bite of society, vulnerability and fan-ferocious energy. The EP has, in addition to airtime and rotation on P4, P6 BEAT, P5 and P8 Jazz, also garnered great acclaim in media such as Politiken, GAFFA and Bands Of Tomorrow.

The duo and the pair of friends, Anna Skov (vocals) and Emil Mors (keyboards), write socially relevant and insightful songs that point fingers at both the outside world and themselves.

Schæfer has already toured all over Denmark and played sold-out concerts in Copenhagen, Aarhus and Aalborg, among others — and it is on the live stage that the band has really made a mark when the duo expands into an explosive seven-person orchestra.

On stage, the audience is invited into a strong collective, where the total presence and joy of playing of the seven musicians sets the stage. It's the jazz, it's the pop and then it's not least an incredible ability to convey strong songs with depth, playfulness and an uncompromising and fanatical energy.

GAFFA has repeatedly awarded Schæfer's concerts with five stars, describing the sound as: “a form of indie-dream jazz, featuring, among other things, delicious trumpet solos and choral voices”.
