Scéalta /cialta/
A Gaelic word with great origins. As early as thousands of years ago, Irish legends and stories were presented to the audience by the scéalaithe — the narrators. They traveled across Ireland and wrote down experiences, interesting and interesting facts in order to present them to the common people. Even centuries later, storytelling is a big part of Irish culture and is still practiced today.
Four artists from different parts of Europe — from the Carpathian Mountains to Donegal Bay — have told stories through Irish music and dance throughout their lives. It was by chance that Berlin became the place of her creative work. Here they built a bond from their various experiences — with stories about home, travel, friendship and love.
This is how Scéalta was created — a quartet concert with modern scéalaithe (storytellers) :Patrizia Sieweck (fiddle & vocals) Daniel O'Connor (guitar & vocals) Nicole Ohnesorge (dance) Gyula Glaser (dance)
Scéalta brings stories to life with the help of enthralling Irish folk songs and melodies in modern interpretation and staging, paired with captivating Irish tap dancing.
