Adults (young people from 15 years old can participate)
What happens to the sound when we press the “REC” button? How does the electrical signal turn into a record on magnetic tape and how does the tape recorder later read it? What is hidden under the case of the device and how do its mechanisms work?
During the class, we will look inside the tape recorder, learn the secrets of magnetic recording and independently record sound using a microphone and other analog signal sources. We will also check what hits your own cassettes hide — be sure to bring them with you!
This is a meeting for everyone who is interested in how the tape recorder works and what really happens with the sound recorded on the tape.
Conducted by: Paweł Bogunia — former employee of the Museum of Phonography, a lover of all kinds of playing equipment, with great technical and historical knowledge about sound reproducing devices.
Ticket: 45 zł/pers.
Class duration: 90 minutes
