The theatrical adaptation of the Sherlock Holmes stories takes us to Breslau in 1913. The city is bustling with life on the occasion of the world exhibition, organized on the hundredth anniversary of Napoleon's defeat at Leipzig. About the event

The theatrical adaptation of the Sherlock Holmes stories takes us to Breslau in 1913. The city is bustling with life on the occasion of the world exhibition, organized on the hundredth anniversary of Napoleon's defeat at Leipzig. The streets are filled with newcomers from all over the world, and the atmosphere of the big event mixes with the tension caused by a series of brutal and enigmatic murders.

Concerned about the increasing number of victims and the unusual circumstances of their deaths, the police of the city of Breslau turn to Sherlock Holmes himself for help. A British detective, accompanied by his faithful friend Dr. Watson, arrives in Breslau to face an unknown adversary.

In the course of the investigation, they discover that behind the crimes is a mysterious man who, during the World's Fair in Chicago, constructed a monumental hotel-trap to kill his victims. Now, having changed his identity, he continues his macabre work in Europe, taking advantage of the chaos of the great event in Breslau.

The plot of the art captures the colorful and contrasting atmosphere of Breslau at the beginning of the 20th century — on the one hand, the sumptuousness and splendor of the world exhibition, and on the other, the sultry gloom that engulfs the city with subsequent crimes. The gripping plot is full of mysterious clues, mental skirmishes and Holmes's signature deduction. _____________________________________

The show is staged in the premises of the Mieszczański Brewery, in many rooms and on several floors. This unique immersive theatre experience that Ad Spectatores has been creating for years will allow viewers to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of former Breslau — a city that in its historical form has almost completely disappeared from the map. Viewers will explore the mysterious interior of the Brewery, becoming part of the plot and accompanying Holmes and Watson on their journey through dark riddles, urban mazes and the tense game between light and shadow.

The performance begins at the historic tram stop next to the opera house. During the performance, the audience moves on a special tram. The show takes place in the Mieszczański Brewery. After the performance, the audience is not taken away.

Spectacle in the movement of the audience. The show uses a boom gun and a strobe light.

EXCERPTS FROM THE REVIEW:

“It sparkles, sparkles with wit, drips with blood and entertains the latest premiere of the Ad Spectatores Theater. Spectators celebrate their 25th birthday with freedom, even a certain nonchalance, pomp and precision (...) The show “Sherlock Holmes vs the White Devil” fulfilled my hope for a good, interesting spectacle. And, as is usually the case with Spectators, an extraordinarily realized (...) Audience in the Mieszczański Brewery — the headquarters of Ad Spectatores, is divided into several groups and in “their” groups they watch five scenes, passing each other without colliding. Not on the box stage, but on the five scenes. The world championship is the coordination of the transition of groups to subsequent rooms, located not only on one level. Five scenes (if I add a tiny but atmospheric musical scene, there are as many as six) are further installments of the criminal story. We get to know her in full, equipped with headphones, riding a vintage tram (...) and listening to stories. The tram departs from Teatralny Square and takes the audience to the Mieszczański Brewery (...) The Mieszczański Brewery once again, but this time it passed a very difficult exam. It is an interesting space for visions of urban labyrinths, terrifying alleys (...)”

Miaraklutury; Małgorzata Matuszewska — “Crazy trip with Sherlock... in really crazy places”

“Ad Spectatores is famous for its custom staging that won't find viewers who value sitting in one place. This time we were invited for a tram ride, and then to taste the atmosphere of Wrocław before the First World War, in contexts both unobvious and sensational. Lovers of absurd juxtapositions, black humor and fun with words felt at home, while the others could still experience the theatrical intensity (...) (...) The performance proposed this time differs from the others by the momentum resulting from the simultaneous happening in as many as five different stage actions (...) The realization of the idea to divide the audience into groups made it possible to achieve effect, which has been on the banners of Ad Spectatores since its inception — maximum output “to the spectators” (...) and the removal of the barrier between the stage and the audience. It is worth noting that this was a great success. (...) the multitude of parallel action locations and accompanying scenography made the latest Ad Spectatores production not only logistically but also in other respects look significant (...) The created characters were expressive, in places even — probably for comic effect — drawn too thick a line, and the actor they did well with them (...) Taking everything into account, I can confidently write that “Sherlock Holmes vs The White Devil” is a successful performance and has a chance to stay in the repertoire of Ad for a long time Spectators.”
