The 1970s, in particular, was the decade when conspiracy theories and paranoia over the actions of governments abounded, and the fear is evident in the films that were made in Hollywood. In 'Last Witness', a senator is liquidated in Seattle. As the witnesses to the episode die one by one, reporter Joe Frady (Warren Beatty) decides to investigate the case. He goes undercover as a hitman for the company “The Parallax Corporation”, but soon ends up out there where he can't bottom. 'Last Witness', along with the films' Klute 'and 'All the President's Men', make up director Alan J. Pakula's so-called paranoia trilogy.
