Alice is a stage singer who makes a living by singing at events, sometimes going with concerts. She lives alone and actually lives the lives of her loved ones: her mother — a crazy optimist, Julian — a gay hairdresser, Mother — a guy collector, Barbara — her devoted manager, and Mr. Leon — her neighbor.
Alice is a conscious “single” and even thinks she is in the best moment of her life. As a result of unexpected events, her seemingly arranged world suddenly changes... There are a lot of women like me. Emotionally a little subdued, but with a sense of self-worth. Financially adjusted, well-groomed, intelligent and independent. After the finished marriage, or informal relationship, there are some regrets and photos left, and sometimes how the guy had class - an apartment and a couple of acquaintances. Although, the latter, mostly had to determine whose acquaintances they really were, so it gets pretty twisted and kind of uncomfortable. At first — when you break up with someone — it's even pretty funny. You say to yourself, “Oh my gosh, I'm free again, I'm free like a bird, like a gazelle in the savannah, actually - like I used to be when I was a teenager and finally broke off my parents' leash. Now I will dress - as I want, paint myself - as I want, go to bed - at what time I want, eat and drink - whatever I want... Hey, wait. And why was being with my guy in the so-called dream herd any different? Did someone impose a way of being on me? Was someone controlling me or controlling me? No. It's me.
Is being single a choice of freedom or a necessity in life? A fashionable word, defining the fashionable attitude of modern women in life, became the title of the play, the author and director of which is Jacek Bończyk, and the only performer — winner of the Icarus Award of the President of Bielsko-Biała — Anna Guzik-Tylka. For the artist, who is facing the form of one-person theater for the first time, it is an opportunity to show a full palette of artistic possibilities, including vocal ones. An integral part of the performance are songs written by Krzysztof Maciejowski.
The creators of the show do not moralize in “Singielka”, do not evaluate, do not recommend ready-made recipes. By means of artistic analysis, they reveal the valley of longings and anxieties, which is the soul of the heroine they create: a contemporary, modern Polish woman.
On September 27, 2024, Anna Guzik-Tylka played the monodrama “Singielka” for the two hundredth time!
