SEVENTH HEAVEN — exhibition by Elżbieta Charytoniuk

Her painting takes us to a world where melancholic and unreal figures created by the artist live. The Seventh Heaven, in Dante's Divine Comedy, is filled with Contemplative Souls who, in a strange lethargy and calm, await their further journey...

“This “suspension” in time and space concerns those characters of mine who seem to be sad, but they really know that with the help of Angels they can become them themselves and climb higher up the golden ladder.. so they are waiting for the best moment... - confesses the artist.

It is a painting of emotional depth, at the same time gentle and predatory, lyrical and bitter. Charytoniuk paints like a poet and tells with a picture: about loneliness, transience, about the fragility of a man hidden behind a mask. The artist creates compositions with a strong symbolic charge, in which colors and lines are intended to evoke certain emotional states and poetic associations

Elżbieta Charytoniuk, studied at the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts, at the Faculty of Conservation of Painting and Polychrome Sculpture. After a year's stay in London, she continued her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.

For many years she carried out serious conservation works in Poland (e.g. the Royal Castle in Warsaw) and in Germany (Bremen, Lunenburg). In search of her artistic path, she was engaged in easel painting and large-format frescoes inspired by the painting of great masters and nature. The work on the creation of great wall decorations was related to trips to the Côte d'Azur where they were created (among others at the Carlton Hotel in Cannes). But this did not prevent her from creating oil paintings and participating in many individual and collective exhibitions. In the years 2000 — 2008 she ran her own Fresco gallery in Wilanów, Warsaw.

Writing is Elżbieta Charytoniuk's second passion, which has earned her prizes in literary competitions for poems and a collection of short stories All the Best. Such encouragement contributed to the creation of the book for children Warkocz and the collection of poems The Prayer of the Church
