The workshops implemented as part of the project “Resovianistics — Young Academy of Rzeszow” will be an opportunity to go back in time and learn about the history of Rzeszów and archaeological discoveries related to this region.

About classes:

Let us embark on a journey in the footsteps of the “gold of the north” — amber, which in the heyday of the Roman Empire crossed the lands of present-day Poland all the way to the Baltic. The amber trail was followed by merchants and soldiers, and its sections were under the control of the warlike Vandals. One of their amber workshops was located in the area of today's Świlcza, where an unusual treasure was discovered.

During the workshop, participants will be able to take on the roles of former craftsmen and learn about their daily lives. They will make their own amber bead, try their hand at working with bone and create a braid that could have been used to decorate clothes or weave into hair. They will also learn about old ways of hygiene and hairstyles inspired by the looks of Roman ladies and barbarian warriors.

There will also be a small warrior track with fitness tasks, as well as the opportunity to try on elements of barbarian equipment.

Meet the hosts:

Terra Ferrata - a reconstruction group dedicated to the reconstruction of various aspects of the daily life of the population, who inhabited the territories of Central Europe at the turn of the era (mainly focuses on the area of today's Podkarpackie and Lesser Poland Voivodeship). Iron was so important to the people of that time that it was decided to refer to it in the name of the group: Terra Ferrata means as much as: “iron land”, land inhabited by barbarians who, on closer acquaintance, are not so barbarians at all. They took over many of the technical achievements of Mediterranean civilizations, and their own innovations contributed to the considerable economic and cultural development of the population living outside the Roman Limes.

Availability:

Project co-financed from the state budget, granted by the Minister of Education as part of the program “Compass of the Young Citizen”.
