Allen Ginsber's “howl” is the most important voice of American counterculture protest. Published in 1956, to this day it exposes the desires and blindness of the so-called consumer society, colliding them with the often unconscious power of art. Above all, it is a story about outsiders. A poem that heralded and heralds change. He finds it today in Ginsberg's text, which has supporters and fans in Poland, including Kamil Białaszek (known as rapper Koza), in his directorial diploma realized at the Jewish Theater.

About the event

Allen Ginsber's “howl” is the most important voice of American counterculture protest. Published in 1956, to this day it exposes the desires and blindness of the so-called consumer society, colliding them with the often unconscious power of art. Above all, it is a story about outsiders. A poem that heralded and heralds change. He finds it today in Ginsberg's text, which has supporters and fans in Poland, including Kamil Białaszek (known as rapper Koza), in his directorial diploma realized at the Jewish Theater.

“The degree of media chatter, misinformation, and manipulation by billionaire politicians would drive Ginsberg mad today, just as the concept of the Vietnam War and the CIA's drug policy drove him mad. The poet has repeatedly proved that the American special services are responsible for the large-scale distribution of drugs in third world countries” - explains the actuality of “Skowyt” director Kamil Białaszek, adding that his script: - “It is an attempt to combine the sad history of the heritage of hippie culture with the story of the reappearance of the poet in fascist realities, of the contemporary United States. While writing, I was accompanied by a question: What is Yawning really about? In my interpretation, this poem speaks of an unstoppable drive towards self-destruction, both at the level of the world government and civilization as a whole, and from the perspective of the individual trying to find meaning and crashing against the wall of the metaphysical reality of late capitalism.

Kamil Białaszek recently directed the famous play “Nowy Pan Tadeusz, samo że rapowy” at the Polish Theatre in Poznań.

The stage of Bima's directorial debuts, created at the Jewish Theater by Gołda Tencer and realized in cooperation with the Warsaw Theater Academy, is the voice of directors entering the profession.
