The focus will be on short texts such as poetry and short prose. You will also have the opportunity to give feedback on other people's texts and get advice on how to collaborate with an editor if your manuscript is accepted by a publishing house.
About the teacherChristel Sunesen is a publisher and editor and runs her own publishing house, Ekbátana. Ekbátana publishes mainly new Danish literature and cross-artistic works — under the motto: Always good books before good money.For her work in publishing, Christel Sunesen has received the Diploma for Appreciation of Good Book Work 2023 from the Association for Bookmaking. And the Sigvaldi Prize, awarded by the Danish Arts Foundation. In this regard, the Danish Arts Foundation wrote the following:
“Christel Sunesen is a literary powerhouse and has a huge stake in the important role of micro-publishers in Danish literature. Christel has for 10 years run the publishing house Ekbátana, which publishes high quality literature across genres. She has a special eye for new Danish literature and experiments in an original way with alternative publishing formats.”
In addition to the publishing house, Christel is the initiator and organizer of the literary festival Lille Bogdag. Together with Lars Emil Foder, she is also the owner of the online bookstore and the community Mikrofest for the books of the small publishers. Alongside this, she has written research papers and been an editor and member of the University of Copenhagen's research group Center for Genre Studiesand is a member of the board of Danish Publishers. Practical Information Writing Workshop is targeted at adults.Participation is free, but requires registration at Billetto.The writing workshop takes place at Christianshavn Library, in the Othello room.We do not provide computers, so bring your own and/or paper and pen. There is very limited table space, so you probably have to sit with the computer/paper in your lap.We offer a writing pad that you can have as a base for your block/paper.There is a coffee machine in the library room, but in addition we cannot offer provisions. Bring yourself a water can or a bottle for water.Find wayWriting The workshop takes place in the Othello room at Christianshavn Library. From the entrance you can find Othello as follows: follow the wall on your right hand through the library room itself and turn around the first corner. Othello is located as a side room to the library room, but can easily be seen if you continue to follow the right wall.
Writing WorkshopsEvery month, Copenhagen Libraries invites you to writing workshops all over the city. The themes and trainers vary. Our writing workshops are not workshops, but stand-alone workshops of two hours in which lecturers give presentations and give participants writing exercises.
