Writing Workshop: Writing Family History in Novel Form

ExperienceMaybe your grandpa was part of the resistance movement. Maybe your mom was red-stocking. Or maybe your great-grandparents lived an ordinary life in Albertslund — and that's just as interesting.

Writing your family's story is one of the most beautiful and difficult tasks you can undertake. At the workshop, Johanne Mygind gives her best tools for turning family history into living literature — and for navigating what can hurt along the way.

We work with both short writing exercises and concrete examples, and there will be time for conversation and sparring along the way.

About EducatorJohanne Mygind has written the novels The Year of Love and Toxic, both of which are based on her own family's past. She has also worked as a journalist at Weekendavisen, Information and P1.

Writing WorkshopsEvery month, Copenhagen Libraries invites you to writing workshops all over the city. The themes and trainers vary.
