About the teacherChristel Sunesen is a publisher and editor and runs her own publishing house, Ekbátana. Ekbátana publishes mainly new Danish literature and cross-artistic works — under the motto: Always good books before good money.

For her work in publishing, Christel Sunesen has been awarded the Diploma for Appreciation of Good Book Work 2023 by the Association for Boghaandverk. And the Sigvaldi Prize, awarded by the Danish Arts Foundation. In this regard, the Danish Arts Foundation wrote the following:

“Christel Sunesen is a literary powerhouse and has a huge stake in the important role of micro-publishers in Danish literature. Christel has for 10 years run the publishing house Ekbátana, which publishes high quality literature across genres. She has a special eye for new Danish literature and experiments in an original way with alternative publishing formats.”

In addition to the publishing house, Christel is the initiator and organizer of the literary festival Lille Bogdag. Together with Lars Emil Foder, she is also the owner of the online bookstore and the community Mikrofest for the books of the small publishers. Alongside this, she has written research papers and been an editor and member of the University of Copenhagen's research group Center for Genre Studies.
