What do you need to know before you start writing a crime? Author Jesper Stein shares his knowledge and has good writing exercises with him.

About the event

About the workshop: Crime, plot and characters:What do you need to know before you start writing a crime? Is the plot or the narrator most important?

What do you do with research, cliffhangers and gory effects? Should one begin with the famous prologue, in which one experiences the first killing through the eyes of the victim? Should one start more mysteriously with a surreal nightmare at the investigator's house? Or are we going back in time to an episode from the killer's childhood where he pulls the wings off butterflies?

At the workshop, we do some simple writing exercises that can help get you started or get you out of a writing crisis.

About the teacher:Jesper Stein, born 1965, is a trained journalist, but has worked as a writer for more than ten years. He has written the award-winning crime series about the investigator Axel Steen, which has so far appeared in seven volumes. He has ten years of experience as a crime reporter and has travelled the world interviewing his crime idols, including James Ellroy, Michael Connelly, Ian Rankin and John le Carré.

Practical Info:Participation is free, but requires registration at Billetto.
We do not provide computers, so bring your own and/or paper and pen — and the library will provide water/tea/coffee.
