Write monstrous textIn this workshop, we are going to examine the monster as a literary figure. The monster is often seen as something evil and dangerous, but we must try to turn it upside down: we must understand the monsters. We must read excerpts from books and write monstrous texts ourselves to examine what happens purely fictionarily when we write from the perspective of monsters and give voice to the non-human.
Part of the festival “Don't Fear the Weird"On the occasion of the festival Don't Fear the Weird and in collaboration with PsychInfo, the Main Library invites you to a writing workshop that warms up to the festival's explorations of the psychic, the different, and what we often find difficult to talk about.
About the teacherRasmus Daugbjerg (b. 1993) has distinguished himself in just a few years as one of the most original writers of his generation.
He graduated from both the Writers' School and Biskops Arnö Författerskola and has made a name for himself as a writer full of mythical fabulating stories, especially with the fairytale tale 'Trold' from 2022.
Daugbjerg possesses both a poetic language and a keen eye for both nature and human relationships, past and present. He has received high praise for his first releases, including the Michael Strunge Award for 'Troll', for which he was additionally nominated for the Montana Literature Prize and the Blixen Prize.
In 2026, Daugbjerg is current with the novel 'Rasmus Nielson'. The novel draws freely on a historical source from the late 16th century and tells the story of the fortress farmer Rasmus Nielsøn's meeting and friendship with the mermaid Ibrant. The mermaid tells Rasmus a prediction about Christian the 4th, which he must relay to the king.
