Fiddler on the Roof - Těšínské Divadlo Scena Polska

Some stories pass with time. Others remain with us forever, because they tell about what is most important to a person.

“Fiddler on the Roof” belongs to just such works.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the existence of the Polish Stage of the Cieszyński Theater, a unique realization of one of the most famous musicals in the history of the theater was created. Performed by a team from Český Cieszyn, the show, which has touched audiences around the world for decades, impresses with its dynamism, energy and extraordinary power of the acting story.

The story of Tevje — a poor dairy farmer from Anatevka — is a story about a world where tradition meets change, and attachment to old values must face the choices of subsequent generations. It is a story of family, love, dreams, loss and hope.

Although the action of the musical is set in the early twentieth century, its message remains extremely relevant. “Fiddler on the Roof” reminds of the strength of family ties, the need for mutual respect and the difficult art of finding oneself in a world that is constantly changing.

On stage we will see more than 30 actors, live music, dance and an emotional theatrical story. The performance will also include timeless pieces that have been permanently inscribed in the history of the musical — such as “Tradycja” and “If I Were Rich”.

“Fiddler on the Roof” was first staged in 1964 on Broadway, where it won public and critical acclaim and an award for best musical. World popularity was also brought to him by the famous film adaptation with Chaim Popol in the role of Tevej.

However, the realization of the Polish Stage of the Cieszyński Theater is not only a return to well-known history. It is a full-fledged, contemporary encounter with a work that still manages to make you laugh, move and make you think.
