The twilight hour is an aloud reading event in which, across the entire Nordic and Baltic countries, the same excerpt from the same book is read aloud. The reading is part of the Nordic Literature Week, whose purpose is to spread and manifest aloud reading, Nordic literature and the Nordic narrative tradition.
The theme for this year's reading is “Nordic Democracy”. On this occasion, the novel “They will drown in the tears of their mothers” by the Swedish writer Johannes Anyuru will be read aloud.
The novel deals with fear as a tool for political gain and how it creates discord and mistrust between people. “They will drown in the tears of their mothers” won Sweden's most prestigious literary prize “Augustprisen” in 2017.
Practical information It is free to join, but requires registration via Billetto. There will be snacks and hot drinks for everyone in attendance.
