There is no one who knows the truth about a childhood home other than the child. That's what Emma says when she unannounced troops up at her unsuspecting parents to talk. About her childhood, about her parents and about all the things she believes have destroyed her.

Armed with the language of therapy and psychological insights, she invades their quiet, privileged existence of life.

Now they sit around the dining room table with 30 years of saved conflict, while Emma insists it all needs to come to light.

The Shadow Child is a claustrophobic family journey about two generations of struggle for truth. About adult children demanding answers and parents who suddenly discover that their own children remember a completely different life from themselves. But does the truth exist at all and who has the right to invoke it?

Ingeborg Topsøe, the creator behind the Netflix series RESERVATET, makes her debut as a playwright with an absurd parental showdown about the language of therapy as a weapon, generational conflict and the insidious power of diagnoses over us.

On stage, an all-star team consisting of Lotte Andersen, Dejan Čukić, Ena Spottag Fog, Søs Egelind, Kimmie Liv Sennova and Hans Christian Lundgren face off in an intense family showdown with no one left unscathed.
