WORDS OF INDUSTRY — THE PREMIERE OF THE 23RD VOLUME OF “ZESZYTY CHORZOWSKI. FERIAE IN OFFICINA FERRARIA” On 24 October at 17.00 at the Museum of Metallurgy, the premiere of the 23rd volume of “Zeszyty Chorzowski” will take place. Feriae in officina ferraria”. This year's publication is a reflection on the words and language of industry.

Admission to the event is free of charge, but a free ticket is required — HERE. “Feriae in officina ferraria”, or “Vacances (rest) in the smelter”, is the title under which subsequent volumes of the “Zeszyty Chorzowski” have been published since 2024. It is a reference to Walente Roździński's famous work Officina ferraria, the first written text in Polish about the work of blacksmiths (metallurgists) and miners (diggers, warks). At the same time, it is intended to remind that reading “Journals” can be not only an opportunity to acquire knowledge, but also a moment of rest and encounter with the history and culture of Silesia.

The latest publication includes a reflection on the words and language of the industry. The focus of the discussions of the invited authors is the reflection on the influence of industry on the formation and functioning of language, the formation of new words and the way of describing reality.

Among the authors were, among others, the winner of the President of Chorzów Prize in the field of culture — Dr. Jan Baron, as well as Prof. Aleksandra Kunce, Prof. Katarzyna Kwapisz-Osadnik, Prof. Aldona Skudryk, Dr. Marta Filipowicz, Prof. Zbigniew Kadłubek, Prof. Jan Malicki, Dr. Jakub Kosek, as well as Joanna Lewandowska, Krystian Galuszka, Adam Kowalski and Jakub Ząbkiewicz.

The special guest of our publishing house is Prof. Jan Miodek, whose very personal text has a direct connection with Chorzów, and at the same time concerns a value that, although growing out of our city, is a universal good. As in the previous volumes, the publication closes with the chronicle of the most important cultural events in Chorzów from 2025.

We invite you to the premiere of the 23rd volume of “Zeszyty Chorzowski” on 24 October at 17.00 at the Metalowców 4a Metalowców Street. The meeting will take place as part of the series “Freedom of Reading” and will be moderated by Beata Tomanek from Radio Katowice. The authors of the publication will also take part in the meeting. During the event, you will be able to purchase the latest volume of “Zeszyty Chorzowski”.

Edition of the 23rd volume “Zeszytów Chorzowski. Feriae in officnia ferraria” is possible thanks to obtaining co-financing from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Fund for the Promotion of Culture — a state special purpose fund.
