The workshops implemented as part of the project “Resovianistics — Young Academy of Rzeszow” will be an opportunity to go back in time and learn about the history of Rzeszów and archaeological discoveries related to the region.

About classes:

Let's move to the times of the first Piasts and learn about the daily life of the ancient Slavs. Some of the oldest traces of their presence in Rzeszów date back to the 11th century. During a short introduction, participants will learn about the life of the inhabitants of these lands during the period when the state of the first Piast was formed.

Then it will be possible to try your hand at old crafts. At the bone stand, participants will make their own pendant or needle using techniques inspired by early medieval crafts. At the weaving stand, using a bardka, they will create a braid that could have been used to decorate and hem an outfit or weave into the hair.

This will be an opportunity not only to learn about the history of the first Slavs, but also to discover with your own hands what their life and daily work were like.

Meet the hosts:

Terra Ferrata - a reconstruction group dedicated to the reconstruction of various aspects of the daily life of the population, who inhabited the territories of Central Europe at the turn of the era (mainly focuses on the area of today's Podkarpackie and Lesser Poland Voivodeship). Iron was so important to the people of that time that it was decided to refer to it in the name of the group: Terra Ferrata means as much as: “iron land”, land inhabited by barbarians who, on closer acquaintance, are not so barbarians at all. They took over many of the technical achievements of Mediterranean civilizations, and their own innovations contributed to the considerable economic and cultural development of the population living outside the Roman Limes.

Project co-financed from the state budget, granted by the Minister of Education as part of the program “Compass of the Young Citizen”.
