The stage adaptation by Paweł Szumec is a selection of stories and vivid memories from Ota Pavel's childhood and youth. The innocent years full of magic and wonder, brutally interrupted by the atrocities of World War II and the subsequent times of contempt in communist Czechoslovakia, make up the story of the Czech-Jewish family, told in a typical Czech way: laughter through tears.
A warm, comedic story about the fate of an unlucky passenger, selling vacuum cleaners and refrigerators of the Swedish company “Elektrolux”, an avid fisherman, platonically in love with the wife of the boss, an artist in his craft, a romantic, at the end acquires a tragic dimension. Only then do we realize that our heroes survived the hell of war, concentration camps, hunger and fear. The most important scene in the play is the moment of the Father's struggle for meat for the sons sent to the concentration camp - a good remedy for the still unhealed of anti-Semitism.
Jaromir Nohavica's beautiful ballads, chosen by the director, punctuate the individual sequences of this romantic parable about the condition of the heart and soul of man.
The performance was played in the chamber hall at 35 Senatorska Street. Places not numbered.
Late viewers will not be allowed into the show - without the possibility of a refund of the ticket.
