About the event
Sodom directed by Piotr Mateusz Wach is an author's reinterpretation of 120 Days of Sodom by the Marquis de Sade, read through the prism of his own experiences. Piotr Wach, a debuting young director, is an artist from the current of dance and performance theatre, known for his experiments with corporeality, ritual and immersive form. It treats the body not only as an instrument of expression, but also as a carrier of social and political meanings. In his view, the body becomes a battleground between freedom and oppression, desire and violence, individual intimacy and systemic domination.
Sodom is a contemporary stage ritual in which the libertine order, the story of moral collapse and inhuman violence acquires new references to the modern world. The task of the performance is to confront the viewer with the limits of taboos, with questions about dignity and humanity, thus provoking a reflection on what still remains hidden and unacceptable. Sodom Wacha is not only a spectacle of deviance and cruelty, but also a metaphor for contemporary forms of violence, systemic control and social trauma. It is a physical and philosophical theater at the same time — painful, provocative and intensely current, a theater that crosses borders in order to intensify the sensations.
Sodom is about perversion, lust and manipulation, but also about shame, humiliation, and finally, about freedom, the price of which is enslavement. During the performance, author's performances will be presented: Alicja Sędziowska's Pleasure Practice and Wojciech Rybicki's Bull.
