AS BROTHERS

Mom, baba, big brother and little brother. A happy family moves to the suburbs and invites the neighbors for coziness and homemade rice casserole. Outwardly, the home radiates with warmth, but behind the rolled down blinds a different reality reigns. Here, baba is king and he controls everything. When the sons fail to live up to his expectations, he mercilessly reminds them that their birth was a mistake. In search of the love and recognition they lack at home, are the two brothers slowly drifting apart? to each his own community and his own destiny.

AS BROTHERS has become internationally recognised, and now the success of audiences and reviewers is finally returning at BLAAGAARD TEATER, where it helped to lay the seeds for the theatre's new profile. The performance is a personal and heartwarming tale of growing up, discord and the search for identity between two cultures. The story is based on ALEXANDER MAYAH LARSEN's debut collection of poems, KONGEN LEVE (Gyldendal, 2021), and is the first independent part of his family trilogy (AS BROTHERS, TRONFOLKER & MOTHER'S VOICE).
