Sopot Open Laboratories

A place for meetings, dialogue, exchange of experiences and workshops

On October 13, we invite Sopot artists to a workshop dedicated to supporting the creative community in Sopot.

Together we will look at the results of a recent survey of the Faculty of Culture of the University of Sopot and talk about what art studios are in the city: for whom they are intended, under what conditions they are received and how to understand their openness to residents and the public.

The workshop will be a space for joint diagnosis, not ready-made solutions. This is the first step in a longer process that PGS, the Faculty of Culture in Sopot and Goyki 3 Art Incubator are conducting in the summer and autumn. Hosted by Bartek Lis.

About the project:

Sopot Open Laboratories is a project dedicated to various forms of support for visual artists in Sopot. During workshops and meetings, we will analyze and explore the needs faced by the local artistic environment.

The National Gallery of Art, the Faculty of Culture in Sopot and the Goyki 3 Art Incubator together create a map of independent art studios operating in Sopot. They are trying to take a fresh look at this diverse and vibrant environment.

The studio is not just a workplace. It is a space where works, ideas and new ways of acting are created. It provides artists with independence and the opportunity to develop their own work. It can also be a place of cooperation, exchange of experience and implementation of joint projects.

It can also open up to the public and become a meeting place. However, each studio has a different level of accessibility. As part of the project, we look at the relationship between the privacy of artists and the openness of the studio to the audience.
