We invite you to an unusual tour of the exhibition State of Possession, where we present more than a hundred works from the MOCAK Collection. This time we will embark on a trail of curiosities in the field of art conservation.
Experienced contemporary art conservator Zofia Kerneder will talk about the biggest challenges she has faced, her collaboration with artists and curators, as well as the unusual materials from which works of art are created and which she sometimes has to repair... These are, for example, an old shoe or a cake of cow dung.
Why is maintenance so important? What is allowed to the conservator? Where does maintenance end and interference begin? How does the profession of a conservator of modern art differ from the profession of a conservator dealing with traditional media? What to do when the idea of the work is a natural process of destruction? Can a conservator make a replica of a work when the original can no longer be repaired?
During the event you will learn the answers to these and other questions.
