DIVA Show|Kamil Maćkowiak Theatre

We invite you to a unique, multimedia performance “Diva Show” directed and performed by Kamil Maćkowiak.

“Diva Show” fits into a stand-up convention while being a moving confession and psychodrama at the same time. This is the story of a man diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, narcissistically addicted to the need for acceptance, dreaming of recognition and stage success.

This is a story about a man raised by a single mother, in a home devoid of tenderness, love and closeness. In the gray reality of the PRL of the 80s, for a lonely and vulnerable boy, the colorful character of Tina Turner becomes an idol, a “third gender” and a role model for surviving a difficult childhood.

After years, as a thirty-year-old man, the hero decides to fulfill his dream and, at least for one evening, become a big star. It rents the stage and takes viewers on a journey through the search for their own sexual and gender identity, attempts to define themselves and struggle with loneliness.

However, this is not a dark story. In his creation, the protagonist — modeled on Tina Turner, who started life anew after years of a toxic relationship — urges full acceptance of herself, “embraces all differences” and appeals to fight for her own dreams.

A multidimensional story that will confront the myth of masculinity and notions of gender, leaving the viewer with more than one reflection.

We cordially invite you!
