About the event

“Scary Gospoda” is the latest installment of the series “Stories for the Wind”, launched in 2024 at the Teatr Wielki in Poznań, whose premise is to combine storytelling with classical music performed mainly by the wind instruments section.

This time, in the play “Scary Gospoda”, we invite the audience to plunge even deeper into the world of theater and fairy tales, as well as get acquainted with the folk current of Jewish and Ashkenazi culture. Two charismatic soloists take on the roles of wandering bajars — inspired by Jewish “maggids” and “badchen” — who together with musicians and dancers form a colorful artistic troupe.

Snut in this way, the story is based on “Children's Stories” by Isaac Bashevis Singer and takes the form of a box story, in which the narrative frame is formed by the story “The Scary Mistress”. The selection of stories presents different themes in the work of the Nobel laureate for children: humorous (“About the Wise Men of Chełm and the Stupid Carp”), sentimental (“The Golden Goat”), philosophical (“How Szlemiel wandered to Warsaw”), and even metaphysical horror for the youngest (titled “Scary gentlemen”). The artists of the Poznań Grand Theatre lead the audience through an extraordinary world of humour, emotion and philosophical reflections. The music for the performance was composed by Andrei Yakushau.

We invite you to a performance that opens sensitivity and is memorable for a long time.

November 3, 2026, Tuesday, at 18.00 at the Gwiazda Cinema in Wronki.
