Performance “MIE HANKA'S NAME”

“MIANUJOM MIE HANKA” — a unique performance of the Korez Theatre in Zawadzki

Already on October 10, 2026 at 17:00 in the Zawadzkie Cinema we will have the opportunity to see one of the most moving performances of the contemporary Silesian theater — “Mianujom mie Hanka” by the Korez Theater in Katowice.

This is an unusual monodrama performed by Grażyna Bułka, based on a text by Alojzy Lysko. Hanka takes viewers on a personal journey through the history of Upper Silesia — full of memories, family history, difficult experiences and emotions that have shaped the fate of subsequent generations of Silesians over the years.

However, this is not just a story about history. It is above all a story about a person, a family, attachment to a small homeland and a memory that remains with us despite the passage of time. Hanka's story is very personal and at the same time surprisingly close — it resembles a conversation with her mother, grandmother or aunt at the kitchen table.

The performance was realized entirely in the Silesian language, which gives it a unique character and emphasizes its authenticity even more strongly.

“Name Me Hank” premiered at the Korez Theatre in 2016 and has since won acclaim from audiences and critics alike. Grażyna Bułka for her role as Hanka received, among others, the Golden Mask in the category of acting — female role.

Interestingly, the play was also realized within the framework of the Television Theatre — in 2025 it was shown in a television adaptation, also with Grażyna Bułka in the role of Hanka.
