Sleeping Beauty

(from the fairy tale of the Brothers Grimm)

Go with us to the fairyland! There you will meet the King, the Queen, as well as Rose, the royal daughter. Her birth was accompanied by great joy associated with a long wait. However, already on the day of her appearance in the world, the Queen was struck by a curse... An ominous prophecy said that when she turned fifteen, she would prick herself with a spindle and fall asleep for a hundred years! Monarchs do what they can to prevent what is about to happen. All the spindles were burned throughout the kingdom, and the royal descendant received a handful of orders and prohibitions.

However, a curse is a curse, a divination must be fulfilled... And so it happens! The rose reaches the tower, where a mysterious Old Woman is spinning linen. The queen, touching the spindle, injures herself in the finger and immediately falls. Together with her, the whole kingdom falls asleep.

But what, in essence, is this dream? Maybe it's just a time of adolescence, a time of inevitable change for all of us that we sometimes fear so much?

Who will be the Rose after 100 years? Will he find his destiny?

PROGRAM

Performances on 8 and 10 July will be held with the participation of a PJM interpreter and with audio description. After each performance, we invite viewers to an open meeting dedicated to accessibility. The activities are implemented as part of the project “In the Wardrobe without Barriers — Activities for the Development of Accessibility at the Baj Pomorski Theatre in Toruń”.
