A philosopher who did not leave behind a single opinion of his own.
Who really was Socrates if he didn't leave his own writings behind? Why did the man we consider today one of the most important philosophers in history annoy his contemporaries so much? What caused him to be sentenced to death in the end? And what can his method of asking uncomfortable questions teach us more than two thousand years later? Interview with Dr. Krzysztof Łapiński about the book “The Smartest. Biography of Socrates” will be led by Paweł Błach.
Dr. Krzysztof Łapiński — philosopher, translator and lecturer at the University of Warsaw. He deals with ancient philosophy, Eastern philosophy and ecological ethics. Author of books on, among others, Marcus Aurelius and Socrates, as well as translations of works by ancient philosophers. Popularizer of philosophy, author also of acclaimed children's books.
