“Pijaczek” brought Maciej Sieńczyk the Literary Award of the City of Warsaw 2026 in the category of Prose. The book was also nominated for the Gdynia Literary Award in the Prose category and the Nike Literary Award. It was also included in the list of the 13 best Polish books of 2025 according to “Polityka” and among the 10 titles included in the “Polish novel of the year 2025” plebiscite organized by “Gazeta Wyborcza”.
Maciej Sieńczyk is a book illustrator, author of comics and columns. He illustrated, among others, three books by Dorota Masłowska, “Filters” by Adam Wiedemann and the revival of “Lubiew” by Michał Witkowski. He is the author of the albums “Hydriola”, “Wrz” and “Adventures on a deserted island”, published by Lampa and Iskra Boża. “Adventures on a Desert Island” was in the finals of the Nike Literary Award, and “Among Friends” was nominated for the Conrad Award in 2017.
The meeting will be hosted by Emilia Konwerska, poet, literary scholar, winner of the Gombrowicz Prize 2026 for the book “Things Made Specially”.
