“Thicket”

In the thicket of other people's lies it is easiest to lose yourself

The fourth volume of Robert Małecki's series with a duet of policemen from the X Archive

A man in the pouring rain digs a grave in the Vistula reserve. When he finishes, he discovers with amazement that the body he had previously hidden under the branches has disappeared. At the same time, a well-known local businessman Dawid Wróblewski died. The police are never able to find him.

Seventeen years later, an unexpected lead opens this long-forgotten investigation and leads policemen from the Bydgoszcz X Archive to Chełmno — the city of nine hills. Maria Herman and Olgierd Borewicz, however, begin with a catastrophic error that complicates the investigation.

The investigation and the private hell of the heroes begin to intertwine. Maria Herman is dangerously approaching the limit she has promised herself never to cross again. Olgierd Borewicz increasingly acts without inhibitions...

Can controversial decisions, despite the good intentions of the protagonists, sink them?

“Małecki's novels are like old, good and tried and tested acquaintances. Even if they do not speak for a long time, when they knock on the door again, you know that in a moment you will talk as if you saw each other yesterday, although they will surprise you with something anyway. A new story with the duo Herman and Borewicz. Open the door, greet your old friends and let yourself be surprised, just like me.”
