About the book:

He did not learn Portuguese for his career. He studied it because he wanted to understand the songs sung in the family and to know what Brazilian instructors laugh at. When his wife saw an advertisement for a job at an international company and sent his application, they laughed at dinner that something could come of it. A few weeks later Tomasz Tomczyk got the job.

For years, he told the story as a happy coincidence. Later he noticed something else: Portuguese was the first very specific skill he brought to work from a place that had nothing to do with work. He wasn't the last.

Always on the move is a record of twenty years spent between the gym and the office. Tomczyk juxtaposes what capoeira teaches with studies on flow, resilience, thin slices, psychological safety, collective intelligence, and planning fallacy — but he doesn't pretend that one proves the other. Where he sees the similarity, he says outright that the interpretation belongs to him.
