Studies of drapery, women's dresses and officer uniforms — in the rich work of Adolph Menzl (1815-1905) there is no shortage of fascinating shots of fabrics. The artist's insightful gaze and in-depth historical studies allowed him to faithfully reflect both contemporary and old clothes. We invite you to take a tour of the exhibition, during which we will look at the old fashion, as well as the colors and textures of the fabrics immortalized by the artist.

Monika Janisz — art historian, curator of the Textile Collection of the National Museum in Warsaw. He deals with European textiles, especially tapestries and embroidery from the 16th to 18th centuries. He is also interested in the activities of Polish manufactories and textile studios and the history of collecting textiles and clothing.
Julia Pest — art historian, assistant in the Textile Collection of the National Museum in Warsaw, educator. Her research interests include the history of clothing and fashion accessories in their social and material context.
