meeting with Paulina Adamczyk accompanying the exhibition [Adolph Menzel (1815—1905). The Tireless Observer] (https://www.mnw.art.pl/wystawy/adolph-menzel-18151905-niestrudzony-obserwator,277.html)
The drawing is a record of traces of presence. The drawing is able to capture the trace of an event that has already taken place and is still going on in the form of a visible impulse. Drawing is the moment in which the artist's body leaves an imprint of his energy, his breath, the trembling of the hand, the suddenness or hesitation of the gesture. During the meeting we will seek together these impulses, moods, gestures and all ways that serve the artist to convey his reality. The repertoire of works presented will allow us to get to know the specifics of pencil, charcoal, pastels, gouache, watercolors and their functions, e.g. in studios for paintings and engravings, sketches created in the studio and beyond.
