ul. Zgierska 147, Łódź

We invite you to an author's meeting with Dr. Ludwika Majewska, author of the book “Bez cenzury. Grips of prisoners from Radogoszcz (1939-1945)” — an unusual source publication devoted to letters and flu written by prisoners of the camp for the intelligentsia and police prison in Radogoszcz. It is a book that allows you to look at history not only through the prism of dates, events and facts, but above all through the eyes of people who have experienced terror, separation, fear and uncertainty. Letters and gripes preserved despite the passage of time are more than documents. These are the voices of specific people — prisoners, sons, fathers, husbands, brothers and friends — who from behind the prison walls tried to connect with their loved ones, convey a message, give encouragement, and sometimes just give a sign that they are still there. During the meeting, we will talk about the creation of the book, its heroes and sources, as well as what personal letters and grips tell us today about the history of the Radogoshsk prison and the fate of its prisoners.
