“Camino de Santiago. Modern pilgrimage in a world that rejects God. My pilgrim Way from Christian Theist to Catholic Tradition” - meeting with the author of the Camino Frances guides - Szymon Pilarz
Szymon Pilarz — born in 1980. Historian by education. Author of guides on the Camino Frances, i.e. “Camino de Santiago Guide for Pilgrims” and along the Portuguese Way “Camino Portugues Guide for Pilgrims” published by WAM. Of Highlander-Szczyrkowian origin. Since 2007 multiple pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela, Fatima, Czestochowa.
The theme of the meeting will be to present my experience of spiritual development since 2007, based on numerous pilgrimages that I have made and continue to make to Santiago de Compostela. Our guest will try to answer the question - why in a world that rejects God, people are increasingly going to the Camino. Our guest will also try to show the motivations of modern pilgrims and compare them with the reasons for pilgrimage in previous centuries. By his example, he illustrates that pilgrimage can bear unexpected fruits which, from the pole of his own religious indifference, have thrown him to the pole of religious zeal in the spirit of Truth. In this context, he will answer the question whether the change of religious approach makes it difficult or helps to undertake further pilgrimages to Santiago or whether the Camino formula has completely exhausted itself.
