MEETING WITH CHOPIN

The concert program showcases various facets of piano music — from atmospheric miniatures to more elaborate concert forms. Sergiusz Rachmaninov's etudes and paintings combine virtuosity with the suggestive power of musical imagination, and Fryderyk Chopin's selected mazurkas evoke the character of Polish dance, full of subtlety and lyricism. Grażyna Bacewicz's Piano Sonata II shows the characteristic features of her piano work. The evening will culminate with Chopin's Piano Concerto in F minor Op. 21 — a youthful work in which romantic sentimentality meets elegance and brilliance of pianistic virtuosity.
