Meeting with Grzegorz Hajkowski around the book “Beldon”

The Museum of Metallurgy in Chorzów invites you to an author's meeting with Grzegorz Hajkowski around the book “Beldon”, which will be conducted by Dr. Jacek Kurek. Date: October 7, 2026 at 5 p.m.

“Beldon” by Grzegorz Hajkowski is a literary story about Huta Baildon in Katowice and the people whose lives were connected with it for years. The author combines prose, poetry and illustrations, evoking the atmosphere of the former plant, the everyday life of its employees and the emotions that accompany its closure.

It is a book about memory, identity and transience — about a place that for many inhabitants of Silesia was more than just a place of work.

Hajkowski gives voice to former employees and residents, showing their attachment to the plant, their grief and reflections after its loss. The whole is complemented by illustrations that convey the atmosphere of everyday life of the smelter.

During the meeting there will be an opportunity to:
