Thirsty for love

Hong Kong, bathed in the golden light of the 60s Chow Mo-wan and Su Li-zhen live in neighboring rented apartments. A perfectly groomed journalist and an elegant secretary in perfectly tailored dresses exchange courtesies on the stairs. Until they discover that their spouses have been linked by an affair. A tacit agreement will become the basis of a relationship that should not have happened in this place and at that time.

An extravagantly sensual masterpiece is a poem about unfulfilled desires and acute loneliness. One of the most beautiful images in the history of cinema, masterfully cut from shadows, mirror reflections, stealthily captured gestures and glances. Densely filling the frames of music, cigarette smoke, wallpaper ornaments and jade cups build the backdrop for penetrating nostalgia - longing for what is gone and for what never was.
