Old Town Invites “Naked Instinct”

The body tempts, passion kills: Paul Verhoeven's legendary thriller returns in a new, uncensored version restored in 4K.

Detective Nick Curran (Michael Douglas) of San Francisco has a troubled past, a weakness for stimulants and a violent temper. When he begins to investigate a rock musician's murder with an ice skewer, he meets the prime suspect, Catherine Tramell (Sharon Stone): a phenomenal, self-confident writer and millionaire whose novels are eerily reminiscent of real murders. An ambiguous erotic game is played out between the couple.

“Naked Instinct” was a sensation of the 90s: one of the most box-office and sensual films of the decade. The iconic creation of Sharon Stone - an icy, cunning and sensual blonde - elevated the actress to the top of Hollywood. Controversial at the time of release, the film pays tribute to Hitchcock (at the head of “Vertigo”), but is a thriller of a new type: intoxicatingly attractive, brutal, full of perversion and the dark mood of cinema noir. The provocative duo, Hollywood's highest-paid screenwriter Joe Eszterhas and Dutchman Verhoeven, created the perfect mix of naughty entertainment and narrative shock.
