We invite you to another lecture as part of the Świętokrzyskie Staszicowski Lectures. This time Prof. Jerzy Szczepański will talk about Stanisław Staszic's plans and achievements related to the development of industry in the Old Polish Industrial District.
Stanisław Staszic is primarily associated with scientific, educational, social and political activities. However, he was also one of the most important creators of the concept of industrial development of the Kingdom of Poland. From 1816 to 1824, as General Director of the Faculty of Industry and Crafts, he undertook activities for the modernization of mining and metallurgy and the expansion of existing plants. During this period, new and modernized industrial facilities were built, and Staszic prepared an ambitious plan for the development of metallurgy along the Kamienna River.
However, the lecture will not only be a presentation of Staszic's famous achievements. What were the sources of his conception? What did his plans for the development of the industry come from? Why has the Świętokrzyska region become one of the most important areas of its economic activity?
Prof. Jerzy Szczepański will look at the genesis of Stasziców programmes and their implementation, showing them in the wider economic and social context of the Kingdom of Poland.
We invite you!
