“Do you hear the children of the night? What music they make! ”
Immerse yourself in a fascinating reading spectrum that blurs the lines between reading and playing. Stefan Jürgens takes you on an atmospheric journey into the dark heart of Dracula's story. In his melodramatic and fast-paced literary performance, he unfolds a world full of terror, courage and love.
The famous vampire novel “Dracula” is not just read. Jürgens combines language, music and play to create a rich, emotional experience that touches all senses. The comprehensive soundtrack with orchestral music by Prokofiev, Rachmaninov, Debussy and his own live piano compositions as well as atmospheric background music enhances the dramatic effect and keeps the audience engaged.
The story begins with Jonathan Harker, a young English lawyer who travels to Transylvania in 1875 to complete a real estate transaction for a mysterious Count Dracula. What starts out as a seemingly harmless business soon develops into a nightmare. Harker unknowingly opens the door to an ancient, terrible secret. Adventure becomes pure horror: Its host, the castle — a prison. Dracula's sinister plan to travel to England and bring his darkness over unsuspecting victims forces Jonathan to grow beyond himself. While Mina, his fiancée, is anxiously waiting for her loved one to return, he makes one last desperate attempt to escape from the castle. Weeks later, a ghost ship is heading for the coast of England and terrible things begin to unfold in the port city of Whitby.
In the midst of this dark world, we take our heroes by the hand: Professor van Helsing, Mina, Jonathan, Dr. Seward and Arthur Holmwood. They all share a love for one another and a desperate determination to oppose their enemy — an overwhelming, frightening force that embodies the incomprehensible.
Driven by the conviction that evil is never invincible, the power of the human soul lives in their struggle — imperishable and infinite.
This extraordinary evening is an homage to the timeless fascination of classical literature. It is a literary spectacle that will inspire long-time fans of Bram Stoker as well as newcomers.
