Experimentally and intuitively work with fabric printing, pattern building and visual composition on textiles

About the event

This weekend course is for those who want to work experimentally and intuitively with fabric printing, pattern building and visual composition on textile. The course is aimed at both beginners and those with experience who want to immerse yourself in the process.
We start with sketching, you are welcome to bring your own previous sketches, or you can create new ones with ink and ink under guidance. From here we develop printable motifs, which are used in the work with frame printing and playful methods of pattern composition.

Along the way, you will be introduced to various techniques such as overprinting, monoprint and introduction to various binders. You will also gain insight into how to transfer motifs to printed frames. Lighting of frames is demonstrated as part of the course.

We work at an open and experimental pace, where there is room to explore both technical possibilities and personal expression. You will be introduced to methods and techniques that you can further work with there at home or in your own practice.

You will learn that:
- Develop motifs and patterns from sketch to print
- Working with frame pressure and experimental printing methods
- Build compositions with a focus on repetition, rhythm and scale
- Work with monoprints and overprints
- Understand and apply basic processes in pressure frames and lighting
- Create your own unique textiles with your own visual language

Practical information
Bring your own textiles such as fabric scraps, used tablecloths or clothes that you want to give new life.
