Erika Jong's Iconic Feminist Novel — “Fear of Flying” — Once Considered Embarrassing

and scandalous — today, after fifty years, it has the status of a canonical position.

It's tempting to see if we're ready for it, or is it still shocking us?

What really got old about her? How far is America in the 1970s from Poland in the 1920s?

Jong's novel is a real journey of the heroine — bodily, physiological, at times rough.

Isadora Wing is an inconsistent character, often unbearable, not always wise, violating taboos and boundaries of burnout, not necessarily aware of her privilege. She is the ancestor of many contemporary female characters known from pop culture or literature. Without it, it is difficult to imagine such serials as “Fleabag”, “Girls” or the novel “On All Fours” by Miranda July.

Perhaps today, more than ever, we need adventurous heroines challenging modern conservatism. Isadora, starting from the need for erotic realization, travels towards the encounter with herself and her own body. It turns a comic epic into a tale of self-determination.

What fantasies, images and experiences of the female body (and the body in general) are accepted in the theater,

And what do they have to settle in? What will modern culture see in Isadora today?

All the heroines of “Fear of Flying” give us the opportunity to look closely at the changes in morals — real and apparent.

The show features scenes containing: sexual content, profanity, worldview issues, nudity, mental health issues.

A show for people 18+

Late arrivals will not be allowed into the auditorium.
